About Alex Chadwick

Born in White Castle, Louisiana, just 45 minutes from New Orleans, where artists like Master P and Cashmoney Millionaires made their claim to fame, Alex Chadwick is an MC as well as what many would rightfully refer to as a true storyteller. While his southern contemporaries are known for their explicit content, laced with elements relevant to their environment, Alex’s lyrics possess progressive connotations that exceed the boundaries of his neighborhood. souldope_2

Although upbringing certainly played a role in the shaping and molding of this southern rapper’s character, his persona has also been greatly influenced by his travels abroad while on military tours. This exposure facilitated much of the life experiences often reflected in his music. Alex’s messages convey sentiments that strike chords familiar to all of us, addressing the issues of love, life, and the pursuits thereof. With his fresh tone, clean lyrics, and poetic pros, Chadwick’s posture as an MC is one that is reminiscent of hip-hops “good old days,” when this medium was used not only as a vehicle for entertainment but of self-expression.

Chadwick’s journey as an MC began at the age of 8, recording over old tapes and replacing the album-artwork with his own. At the age of ten, the young Alex began performing in churches and recreation centers, and it was here that he knew performing would be a major part of his life. Influenced by rappers such as Tupac, Tribe Called Quest, and Rakim to name a few, Alex’s writing evolved from the juvenile notions of a young boy to the hearty and genuine convictions of a seasoned MC. While on a military assignment in Germany, his he formed the group 3rd Brillyance with friend and producer Maddastronoma in 2006. Shortly After they signed an exclusive digital distribution deal and released their debut album titled “Grassroots” with New York Based Rawkus Records, the label that birthed the careers of Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and Common.
