RUSSELL SIMMONS And STEVE RIFKIND Launch ADD52 For Unsigned Artists
Industry ears were ringing this past week as news spread of a meeting with Russel Simmons and Steve Rifkind as they rounded up our top radio DJ’s from Jersey to Philly. Some of the DJ’s in attendance were Jay Ski (Sirius XM), Q Deezy (Hot 107.9), DJ Kam (Free Agent Radio) and Phil Jackson (Side-B Radio 103.3). Overall jist of the meeting? They’re looking for talent! Besides DJ hunting they’ve recently launched a site dedicated to this purpose. The site is ADD52.com. (‘ADD’ is All Def Digital, ’52’ coming from the fact they’ll feature a new artist each week)
So what exactly is this ADD52?
ADD52 is a music discovery platform for unsigned artists. It was created by Russell Simmons and Steve Rifkind in partnership with Universal Music Group and powered by tech industry leader, Samsung, to give unsigned artists the fastest and most innovative platform to be discovered and signed by All Def Music.
Artists can build a profile, upload a track, share it within their social networks, and follow its progress. The more plays and shares their track gets, the better the chance of making it onto the ADD52 charts.
As a Single of the Week winner, an artists’ track will be highlighted on ADD52.com and on the ADD52 radio station within Samsung’s Milk Radio. In addition, this track will be released as a single on iTunes and could potentially be chosen for a record deal with All Def Music.
