Police Pepper-Sprayed Thirsty Sneakerheads Who Lined up for “Legend Blue” Air Jordan XIs

The Air Jordan XI “Legend Blue” doesn’t officially drop until Saturday, but there’s already chaos surrounding the highly-anticipated sneaker.

According to WTVG 13ABC, police pepper-sprayed a crowd at Franklin Park Mall in Toledo, Ohio, who were lined up to pick up raffle tickets from Finish Line on Wednesday morning. As many as 400 people gathered outside of the mall despite the fact that Finish Line only had between 100 – 150 tickets, which would guarantee shoppers a pair of the “Legend Blue” XI.

Finish Line announced a delay in the opening of the store, which caused some unrest in the crowd.

Police Sergeant Joe Heffernan told Reuters the pepper spray was used around 5:45 a.m. after some groups in the crowd pushed down barricades, causing officers to get knocked to the ground.

It has not yet been reported if there were any serious injuries.

This news follows the chaos that ensued this past weekend at a mall in Houston where over 600 people reportedly lined up to secure raffle tickets for the “Legend Blue” XIs.
